Dave Haavik

I starting climbing in 1980 with my dad, he was reluctant at first, but he had to come with me because I wasn't old enough to drive. I started my career in the Outdoor Industry at the Swallows Nest in 1983. After bouncing from retail, to manufacturing, to retail, to climbing gym manager I started as a sales rep for Petzl in 1993. Dave Allan and I took control of the Alta Group, Inc in 1999. I love this job because of all the people I get to work with and the products I get to sell.

I am married to Elise and have been for 12 years. We have two kids 5 and 9 years old. As a family we get out and climb, camp, bike, garden, ski, cook... . My favorite things to do on my own are to ride my road bike, play music (I play the bass), canyoneering, climb, ski, cook, and work in the garden. I do lots of things, none of them very well, except for being a dad; I'm pretty good at that I think. Some people call me Buzz. If you know me, you know why.
